The NSW Government has released a report that shows arts, screen and cultural activities in NSW contribute $16.4 billion to the State’s economy. Hot on the heels of the Australian Government’s report Cultural and creative activity in Australia 2008-09 to 2016-17, the NSW Government’s The Economic Value of Arts, Screen and Culture to NSW shows why investing in arts and culture are good business.
The report found that arts, screen and cultural sectors contributed $8.7 billion in direct value add to the NSW economy and employed 82,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers. The sectors also support an additional $7.7 billion in related value add and employment of a further 36,400 FTE.
