The National Farm Co-operatives and Collaboration Pilot Program will be launched with the first National Forum of the project being held 29 – 30 of August 2016 at Mantra on Salt Beach at Kingscliff, NSW.

The National Forum will provide an opportunity to learn more about collaborative approaches to farming and importantly, how to get involved in the Southern Cross University-led Farm Co-operatives and Collaboration Pilot Program.

Farmers, existing or emerging farmers groups, farm advisors and existing organisations or networks are invited to register.

Keynote speaker for the forum is Jack Wilkinson, Director, Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada. Other speakers include Melina Morrison, CEO, Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals, Ben Lyons, CEO, Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprises, Doriana Mangali, Business Manager, Sweeter Banana Co-op and Robyn Donnelley, Consultant.

Day One of the program will feature stories of success, innovation and collaborative practice in the agricultural world from speakers. A combination of formal presentations and interactive sessions will build knowledge and understanding on a wide range of topics such as collaborative marketing and purchasing, legal, accounting and governance considerations for co-operatives, just to name a few.

There will also be a number of opportunities for small group chats with the day’s speakers and importantly, other delegates. The day will end with a 90 minute early evening networking session, further facilitating access to expert information and support.

The second day will host a number of optional field trips to local examples of co-operatives and collaborative agricultural operations.

Spaces are limited and interested parties are invited to register here
