This new report from the Climate Council assesses the impact on rural communities of climatic change, revealing both the challenges and opportunities for regional Australia.
The report shows that the increase in extreme weather events caused by climate change is disproportionately affecting those in rural areas. These conditions are likely to worsen the systemic disadvantages suffered by rural and regional communities, and further widen the gap between rural/regional and urban areas. However, rural communities are resilient and opportunities arise from being on the front line of climate change.
