In a celebration of World Environment Day COREM is partnering with Byron Shire Council, Brunswick Valley Land Care, Santos Organics, Mullum SEED and ENOVA to host the inaugural Renew Fest at the Mullumbimby Showgrounds on Saturday 18 June 2016.

This event is a celebration of all things sustainable, including renewable energy, biodiversity conservation, food systems and resource recovery. Set to grow into a three day lived experience of sustainability, this collaborative new festival reflects the Byron Shire’s forward thinking in sustainable practices and technologies, arts and culture, creative industries and celebration.

The focus of Renew Fest is living actions for positive renewable change. Proceeds from the day will go to COREM and its projects, supporting the 100% renewable energy transition of the region. COREM have just achieved their first milestone by raising the funds for Mullumbimby’s first Community Owned Renewable Energy (CORE) system for the Mullumbimby Drill Hall. This system is set to be installed by early July. COREM continue to fund raise for the next CORE system, which will be installed at the Mullumbimby Show Grounds, the chosen venue for Renew Fest.
