The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has released guidance for platform operators in the sharing economy, along with guidance for consumers, service providers and sellers outlining their rights and obligations under the Australian Consumer Law.
The sharing economy involves the use of online platforms that connect people (including small businesses) who have goods or services to sell, hire, rent or lease etc with customers wanting to use those things.
Sharing economy platforms include Uber and Airbnb.
