Startup Muster have released the fifth installment of their annual Australian Startup survey.
A snapshot of the Australian startup ecosystem is featured in each Startup Muster report. The 2018 Startup Muster is a summary of the key insights and findings from the 2018 national survey of startups, people thinking of founding a startup and businesses that support startups.
Reduced growth in the startup sector was key finding in the latest report. While there was a reduction in new startups, the survey revealed increased longevity in existing startups.
The number of female founders was also down, dropping from 25.4 per cent in 2017 to 22.3 per cent in 2018. 31 per cent of start-ups reported a woman on their founding executive team.
The report also identified AI as the top industry focus for Australian startups, overtaking Fintech.
The full report can be downloaded from the Startup Muster website.
