The February/March 2022 floods had a devastating impact on the business and wider community in the Northern Rivers. Many businesses have rebuilt their businesses and some are still in the process of rebuilding. While the flood marked the end of the road for some, for others it brought opportunities with new businesses opening across the region.
As we continue to rebuild and grow our business community, it’s important to include flood preparedness in our business strategies. The information on this page aims to support Northern Rivers businesses as they build back better by providing access to information and tools.
Flood planning is good business

Support for businesses affected by natural disasters
A range of support is available through the Australian Taxation Office for businesses that are experiencing hardship due to natural disasters, a crisis of any kind or difficult times.
Information and support for individuals and councils in declared flood zones can be found on the NSW Small Business Commissioner website.
Financial support
The Regional Investment Corporation provides Australian Government backed concessional loans to farms and farm-related businesses.
Council Updates
Access to information and links to services are available through your local LGA emergency/disaster dashboard. Emergency dashboards include links to Recovery Centre and donations information. For Disaster Dashboards follow the link to your council website.
